Hi Huong and Ly,
What a great session yesterday! I was very happy
to have you two participate and would happy to integrate that
periodically. That will become easier as Huan gets more fluent on the
board....He is doing an amazing job but is still evolving in his skills.
Here is the transcript from yesterday's session. Let me know if you
want to pursue the I'm Determined summit and we can work on the
application - deadline is March 21 (I think!).
Determination, Courage and Self Advocacy Define: courage - HAVING THE ABILITY TO FACE YOUR FEARS determination - STAYING ON THE COURSE WHEN THINGS GET TOUGH self advocacy - HAVING RESPONSIBILITY FOR MYSELF “Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.” ―Mother Teresa YOU NEED TO START A REVOLUTION ON YOUR OWN. DON'T WAIT FOR OTHERS TO JOIN YOU. “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” ― Winston Churchill KEEP TRYING EVEN WHEN IT IS HARD TO STAY ON TRACK OF YOUR GOALS Conversation with parents: Mom: Are there ways that school can help you meet your goals? HUAN: SCHOOL DOES NOT HELP ME WITH MY GOALS. I WOULD LIKE TO STUDY MORE CHALLENGING INFORMATION. Mom: What do you want to do when you grow up? HUAN: I WOULD LIKE TO GO TO COLLEGE. Elizabeth: What would you like to study? HUAN: I JUST WANT TO LEARN SO I CAN TALK TO OTHERS ABOUT STUFF Dad: What do you want to be? HUAN: I WOULD VALUE RESPONSIBILITY AS A SERVICE PROVIDER TO STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS. Elizabeth: Do you have a question for your parents or a message for them? HUAN: I LOVE YOU SO MUCH BECAUSE YOU SUPPORT ME AND BELIEVE IN ME AND MYSELF. I WANT YOU TO BE PROUD OF ME. |
