DREAMS (PART TWO 5/20)

Our brainwaves are actually more active when we are sleeping than when we are awake!  Not everyone dreams in color and some people dream exclusively in black and white. It is said that in our dreams we see faces of only those we have met in our lives, even if they are strangers, weather we remember them or not.  Dreams can be inspirational, and are recognized as launch pads for many of our greatest inventions.  Examples include Google (Larry Page), Alternating Current Generator (Tesla) and the Periodic Table (Mendeleev).

 

§  When are our brainwaves more active? Awake or asleep? WE DREAM WHEN WE SLEEP AT NIGHT

§  Do people dream in color or black and white? BOTH

§  What do you dream in? BOTH USUALLY EACH VARIES.

 

Dr. Simmons second theory on dreams; that we create wisdom during sleep, is fascinating.  Our brains would be completely clogged up if we attempted to remember every image and interaction we come across each day!  If sleep and dream serves to process and file away our daily experiences; maybe this is how we can call on “memories” or experiences that aide us in making future decisions! Along the same lines, Dr. Simmons third theory, that we “defragment and clean up” our brains hard drive, is a nice one.  When someone defragments a computer, they are cleaning it up; shuffling connections and erasing inefficient links.  With dreams, perhaps we are re-ordering and streamlining our thoughts!

§  When we defragment our brain during sleep, we are re-ordering and streamlining our _______________. THOUGHTS AND INFORMATION IN OUR HEADS.

§  What do you think of these theories?  I THINK THEY MAKE A LOT OF SENSE. SOMEHOW WE NEED TO SORT THROUGH ALL THE INFORMATION IN OUR HEADS. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I TRY TO FALL ASLEEP. I CANNOT DO IT IN MY SLEEP SO IT KEEPS ME UP ALL NIGHT.

 

How is the new sleep plan going? THE MUSIC HELPS ME RELAX SO I AM ABLE TO SLEEP BETTER BUT MY HEAD IS STILL BUSY BRINGING ORDER TO MY THOUGHTS AND I STILL DO NOT ENJOY A RESTFUL SLEEP.

Let’s add in something.  Guided medication and book? GUIDED MEDITATION SOUNDS INTERESTING.

 

CREATIVE WRITING: Reflect: You will dream roughly 6  years of your life away. Are your dreams verbal, visual and emotional?  Do you believe they reflect preparation for physical challenges, a filing system for future wisdom, system maintenance for our brain, a safe place for emotional learning or are they completely random?  Provide an example of any dream you may recall.

 

MY DREAMS ARE GENERALLY VISUAL AND IN COLOR. ONCE IN A WHILE I HAVE A NIGHTMARE AND THOSE SCARE ME A LOT. I USUALLY DREAM ABOUT PEOPLE IN MY DAY. OR I DREAM ABOUT THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED IN MY DAY. THAT SEEMS TO HELP ME STORE INFORMATION IN LONG TERM MEMORY. THAT IS MY THEORY ON DREAMS.
