Huan Machiavelli

(Huan's responses during lesson with EV)
A treatise is a formal essay on a subject.
He was ruthless leader who thought it was ok to lie.
He had those who spoke against him exiled.
He gave the first accurate description of real politics.

I am here today, in Florence, to interview Nicolo Machiavelli about his political beliefs.
H: Pleased to meet you Mr. Machiavelli.
M: Thanks for having me here today.
H: Please tell us about your treatise.
M; The treatise is called The Prince. I suggest that leaders need to appear honest but do not need to actually be honest.
H: Wow, that is a little ruthless don't you think?
M: Well, the citizens do not need an honest or moral leader. They need a strong leader who will do whatever it takes to lead the country.
H: How will you deal with those who oppose you?
M; I will exile them!
H: then I wish you good luck.
