What do we want
Here we want to have a wine fridge, a small bar sink and glass door cabinets. Also, if possible a place to hang stem wares. We also want under-cabinet lights As for appliance, the center piece is the dual-zone wine fridge. With wine theme surrounding the space, we may want to bring in deep rich wine color counter top, along with vine curve shape faucet to match. Whatever color we choose for the cabinet, it's better match the opposite recessed wine rack wood color. Accessories may include the counter top wine opener, and stem-ware rack. Rich dark wood color is better fit for this place. Hint of wine oak barrels or similar would also work. Moldings & trims would be a plus at this area.
Appliances & Cabinets:
- Wine fridge. To save spending money on the cabinet we will try to get a 24" under-counter wine fridge, which has the similar dimension of a 24" base cabinet. Here is the cheapest one that I can find: Haier HVB050ABH Built-In 50 Bottle Wine Cooler Refrigerator, and it's selling here for $350.55. Should look for one in Craig's List to save.
- Bar sink, around $60. It's a simple 18" x 15", 18G stainless steel under-mount sink.
- Wine opener.
- Bar sink faucet, around $50. It's a Victoria style, double handle faucet, satin nickel finished.
- Under-cabinet lights
- Wall cabinets with glass doors ($1049.16)
- Start out with 36" double door wall cabinet, we are then left with only 21-3/4" to fill, which is easily be a 21" and a filler. Again, with Lexington price:
- 36" double door, W3642, $496.02
- Mullion doors (2), MD1842, $220.92 ($110.46 each) - Not including glass.
- 21" left door, W2142L, $304.08
- Filler, FS42, $28.14
- Base cabinets ($397.74)
- 24" is the smallest sink-base cabinet, so let's start to design with this one. To accommodate the wine fridge, it's best to use a base cabinet & remove the door, drawer, and horizontal face frame rail.
For the above wine fridge we need a 18" base, which leaves us a 15" width opening to the 13-9/16" width fridge. If bigger fridge is needed we may have to go up to a bigger base cabinet, or no base at all. Which I think a better solution. Because then it will save us at least $217 for a 18" base cabinet. Let's use this money toward the fridge.
- Since the width of the area is 57-3/4", and let's assume that we go with a 24" wine fridge. We now need a filler and base cabinet to fill up total of around 9-3/4". Let's say we have a filler of 4", then that leaves us only 5-3/4" for base cabinet, which none exists that small. Thus we have to begin with a bigger sink-base: a 30" sink base and a filler 3-3/4" and then a 24" wide wine fridge will fill up the bottom part perfectly (30" + 24" + 3-3/4" = 57-3/4"). So here is the list for the bottom area, price are in Lexington dark rich color:
- 30" sink base, SB30, $325.50
- 6" filler, FS636, $50.40
- Toe kick, MTK8, $21.84
- Handles
- Granite counter top & 4" back flash. 57-3/4" x 26", with 4" back flash. $360
If we estimate the price for granite at $30 sq-ft, we will have around 12 sq-ft. The granite name is: New Caledonia

What do we want:
Here we want to have a microwave, a small fridge, and small bar sink. Glass door cabinets. Also, if possible a place to hang stem wares. We also want under-cabinet lights.
Since the wet bar is so close to the master bath, I am thinking of bringing the pink color marble out to the wet bar, so we need to use the similar marble tile for the back splash. For the counter top, we can use the similar granite as in the Master Bath. I would like to emphasize on the elegant, so we need to have an European design faucet
, along with the bar vessel. For the mini-fridge, I would like to use the drawer style fridge, more expensive but will definitely create a wow effect. Oh well, cannot afford a drawer style fridge, so back to normal 24" under-counter fridge.
Have not able to solve the microwave just yet, will come up with something. I definitely don't want to have the dark glass microwave door staring at me.
Appliances & Cabinets:
- Small fridge. Typical 24" under-counter fridge. The drawers style fridge is too expensive! Minimum of $2.5K, so we will settle with a GE Spacemaker GMR06AAP, selling here for around $300.
-
Microwave. This should be small, like this one GE Profile Spacemaker II PEM31, which is only 24"W x 12"H x 12"D. Perfectly fit under a 24" cabinet. Selling here for $240
- Bar sink, around $60. It's a simple 18" x 15", 18G stainless steel under-mount sink.
- Bar sink faucet, around $50. See above picture.
- Under-cabinet lights
-
Wall cabinets with glass doors. ($773.22)
- 24" double door wall cabinet, W2442, $342.30
- Mullion doors (2), MD1242, $156.24 ($78.12 each) - Not including glass.
- 24" wide but only 30" tall for microwave to be mount underneath. W2430, $246.54
- Filler, FS42, $28.14
- Base cabinets ($299.46)
- 24" sink base, SB24, $273.42
- Filler, FS36, $26.04
- Toe kick, (use the left over from Butler Pantry)
- Handles.
- Marble tile back flash.
The marble tile is: Breccia Oniciata
We need only about 6 tiles to cover as back flash
- Granite counter top. 49-3/4" x 26". $270.83?
If we estimate the price for granite at $30 sq-ft, we will have around 10.5 sq-ft.
- The granite name is: Roza Beta
