We want to remove & clean the filter for our Maytag Dishwasher, since it was not done for ... more than 5 years. So, here is our effort in finding all the information we can regarding this task.
Model: MDBH955AWS
We also found out that our model is a recall

If your Maytag dishwasher is not cleaning as well lately, the filter may need to be cleaned. Consult your owner's manual for specific directions on your dishwasher. The filter in a dishwasher is important because it collects small food particles and keeps them away from the drain pump. This article will help you locate the filter in your dishwasher.

1. Remove the lower wash basket from the dishwasher.

2. Remove the lower spray arm cap by turning it counter clockwise and lift the spray arm off of the pump.

3. There are (6) T20 screws to remove that hold the pump cover to the discharge pump housing. Note that the pump cover must be reinstalled the same way so make a mark to help you line it up when reinstalling.

4. The filter can now be lifted out and cleaned with a brush under the hot water faucet.

5. Small particles of food can clog the screen and impede the water flow through the pump.

6. Before reinstalling, use a tweezers to remove any food particles that may be clogging the lower wash arm. After reassembling everything back together, start a wash cycle. You should now be able to hear the water being sprayed inside of the dishwasher with a stronger force than before the filter was cleaned.
