On Sunday, we were thinking of meeting Hương's highschool friend & her family at Pohick Bay. This is a beautiful park, very close, and having the facility for us to rent canoes at reasonable rate. So, here is the map and here is the site; but the plan changed and I think for the better. We changed our destinations to National Harbor then to Lake Accotink instead. The National Harbor is nice place to walk, shop or just kick back relax & watch other people pretty much having the same idea: enjoy the place. There are plenty of benches along the harbor, and also place for the kids to play. The shops are lined up on the streets, you can find almost any chain stores here. At the kids play ground, there is a statue buried in the sand for kids to climb on. That's the same Awaken statue at the Hanes Point. All the kids enjoyed the statue to the max, they dashed up the statue leg and climb all the way to the top. Huân took off his shoes so that he can feel the surface texture and more comfortable playing with the sand. After letting the kids playing for awhile, we all went & get ourselves ice cream at a nearby Gelato shop. Thuỵ experienced his first fruit gelato instead of ice cream. The kids then took off to visit the shops. Huong and her friend spent time catching up on things. I took Huân to the harbor, taking pictures and look at the beautiful scenes of the place. Walking on the boardwalk, to the rhythms of the tropical music playing on the speakers, it was a total relax & enjoying afternoon. We inspect & examine everything we see along the boardwalk: the benches, the float, the lights ... and even the binocular. |
